My recommendation is to save your money and get neither until they are mature products. Previously, she was a staff writer for Tom's Guide, where she wrote about everything from artificial intelligence to social media and the internet of things to. She had a particular focus on smart home, reviewing multiple devices. In her downtime, you can usually find her at poetry slams, attempting to exercise, or yelling at people on Twitter. But only a small portion of those skills are enhanced by the Show’s display, so that’s probably not what you’ll be spending most of your time doing with the Show.
The Google Nest Hub screen is about 7 inches, whereas the Echo Show screen size is 10.1 inches. If you want something a little bigger, the Echo Show is the better choice. Unlike speakers, though, the microphone hardware of the Nest Hub puts up a good fight. Both displays use microphones well and will generally hear your commands from across a large room.
Google Nest Hub Max
The new Echo Show has a much larger 10.1-inch, 1280 x 800 display. Though it kicks back some glare, the screen looks very much like a mini flatscreen TV, and I looked forward to watching movies and videos on it at the end of the day. The Google Home Hub is also perfectly placed to make use of Youtube - you know, the biggest video sharing site on the internet - that is also owned by Google's parent company Alphabet. There's an integrated Youtube app optimized for the display, and seems geared directly towards How To videos, as well as songs and playlists for... Google Home Hub buyers will even get 6 months Youtube Premium for free. The Echo Show 10 has a 10.1-inch touch screen with 1,280-by-800-pixel resolution.
Although lacking a camera, The Nest Hub has the better hardware build and touchscreen. On the other hand, the Echo Show 5 is slightly more functional because it offers more customization and gives you access to a traditional web browser. The Google Home Hub and Echo Show are both formidable smart displays, but they are very different in terms of price, size and features. It depends on both your preference and usage.
Sound quality
It has the biggest screen (15 inches with a 1,920-by-1,080 resolution), and unlike the other smart displays it isn't designed to sit on a desk, counter, or nightstand. The Echo Show 15 is for wall-mounting, serving as a stealthy home hub that looks like a framed picture when not in use and a widget-filled control panel when active. A table stand is available, but that's kind of missing the point.
No camera means no proper video chatting, but for people who aren’t fans of up close and personal video chats, this is a good thing. Not only that, it follows you around the room, giving you a clear, straight-on view of the screen from wherever you are and whatever you're doing. The Show 10 doesn't have legs, mind you -- it's stuck wherever you put it.
Sound Quality and Voice Commands
Shop your favorite products and we’ll find the best deal with a single click. Thanks to its clean, attractive design and intuitive controls, even though it was a relative latecomer to the smart home scene. However, the camera is a sore loss, and will equally be key piece of functionality for a lot of buyers.
Side-by-side, there is no denying that they closely match each other in several key areas — screen size, sound quality, and price. We’ll evaluate both options — the Nest Hub Max and the Echo Show — to help you find out which smart display is right for you. If we are being honest, the Google Nest Hub Max looks like it will take the top spot for smart displays. With a screen roughly the same size as the Echo Show, the Google Nest Hub Max comes equipped with a Nest Cam. With the Nest Cam, you can use the Nest Aware security camera service and Google’s own video chat feature, Google Duo.
Smart home compatibility and connectivity
The Home Hub also comes with a free six months of YouTube Premium, YouTube's subscription streaming service. And photographers might appreciate that the device doubles as a smart picture frame and can cycle through your Google Photos albums as a screensaver. This will be a blessing for those who are creeped out by having a camera in their house, but it does mean you can’t video call. Other features include automatically switching off at night-time, and a dedicated 'Downtime Mode' to prevent it distracting users - so, for homework or freelancers, basically. But that's not to say the Google Home Hub is light on features. For one, it comes with a 'voice match' function that can recognize who is giving it orders and tailor the response to your individual user profile.
If you have Google products, like the Pixel phone or other Nest devices, the Nest Hub will integrate with them more seamlessly. These two smart displays have a very similar setup and interface. They both have a simple touchscreen interface which you can interact with like a tablet, but the focus of the product is more on the voice command. Users will mostly interact with their smart display through talking to their virtual assistant.
The resolution is given as a compound value, comprised of horizontal and vertical pixels. The number of megapixels determines the resolution of the images captured with the main camera. A higher megapixel count means that the camera is capable of capturing more details.
This makes the Hub well suited to serve as a picture frame when not in use. The Show 2 can also show photos, but it doesn’t have the same focus or photo rotation capabilities and doesn’t sync with Google Photos automatically.
